Bereavement Care and Grief Support
Our first responsibility is to the families we serve, and we treat this responsibility with the utmost care and commitment. We believe that funeral service is more than just arranging for the service itself. It’s about helping families through a very difficult time- caring for those who have died, and those who are left to carry on. Helping family, friends and the community is much more than a job. To us it is a way of life: our family’s ministry for generations.
At the Harris Funeral Home, we know that the process of grieving and adjusting to life without a loved one goes on long after the funeral is over. And we understand the unique and ongoing challenges that loved ones face. So to help you throughout the grieving process, we provide quarterly letters, informational brochures and an extensive bereavement library. In addition, we host a Christmas Service of Remembrance- an annual Ecumenical service honoring loved ones and their families.
Our Continuing Care
Welcome to the Continuing Care section of our website. We created this section especially for the families we serve- because we know the process of grieving and adjusting to life without a loved one goes on long after the funeral is over. We recognize the need for ongoing support and care and we are always here to help, because we care deeply about the families we serve.
That’s why we offer them a support system that includes:
• Counselors
• Facilitators
• Bereavement Groups and Programs
• Grief Care Mailings and other resources
• Priority registration for our C.O.P.E.S programs
Of course, family members may also have a personal consultation at any time with one of our trained bereavement support staff members.
Since our experience has shown that selective reading can also be helpful, we’ve created a lending library containing books and pamphlets relating to grief and bereavement, which you are welcome to borrow.

Our Programs include:
• Compassionate Connection: a weekly support group offered several times throughout the year.
• Continuing Connection: An ongoing monthly support group for those who have completed the Compassionate Connection group.
• Caring Connection: A social group for C.O.P.E.S families to come together, share their experiences and enjoy the company of those who understand.
• Resource Programs: We invite guest speakers who have experience or are experts in the many different aspects of bereavement to help provide insight and information to members of any of the families we’ve served who wish to attend.
We host all C.O.P.E.S programs in the quiet and nurturing atmosphere of the Harris Family Center.
Our Holiday Service
Our family and staff of the Paul W. Harris Funeral Home realize the Christmas season can be a difficult time of the year. The world around us is preparing for the holidays, and society encourages us to join in the “Christmas Spirit”. However this time of year can be the darkest days for those of us who are grieving the loss of someone we love.
Our Ecumenical service that is held every year at Christ the King Church is built on a foundation of ‘Light” We invite each family that we have served to come forward and light a candle in remembrance for their loved one. It is our hope that our families will find some comfort and strength in the sharing, remembering and lighting of candles
