DeFranco, Samuel J. Rochester: Saturday, October 25, 2014 at the age of 96. Pre-deceased by his 1st wife, Michelle DeFranco & 2nd wife, Marie (Marrer) DeFranco; parents, brothers and sisters; niece, Diane DeMaio. Sam is survived by his son, Paul (Chris) Marrer; grandchildren, Adam (Dana), Heather (Jim), Amanda (Chris); nieces & loving caregivers, Debbie & Danielle Valerino; nieces & nephews, Carole Bastien, Lucille Valerino, Danny Valerino, Joseph Valerino, Denise (Eric) Neimeier, Jimmy, Jerry & Danny Bastien; 5 great grandchildren; many other relatives and friends. Sam will be remembered for his years of service in WWII. He worked for Kodak for over 30 years as Food Service Manager. He was also a 4th officer in the Knights of Columbus. You would often find Sam cracking a joke or rooting for the Buffalo Bills. He was an avid bowler and usher at St. Thomas Moore Church. A special thank you to the staff at Aaron Manor Nursing Home for their care, especially, Jamie AKA Houdini. Calling Hours will be held THURSDAY 11:00am - 12:30pm at the funeral home (570 Kings Hwy South). Friends are invited to meet the family THURSDAY 1:00pm at St. Kateri at Christ the King Church for his funeral mass. Interment Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to Special Olympics Onondaga County, 6315 Fly Rd, E. Syracuse, NY 13057 or a charity of your choice.
