Please share a memory of Marjorie to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Marjorie Dormail Tellier February 3, 1928 - January 12, 2015 Marjorie Dormail Tellier was born on February 3rd, 1928 as Marjorie Teresa McColgan in Medford Massachusetts, the first child to Grace and James McColgan, recent immigrants from County Donegal, Ireland. Margie led a rich, irish catholic life as a child, attending St. Clement School in Medford and living in the close and loving community of her extended irish family. In 1948, Margie met Richard T. Dormail, a dashing Navy man and student of Chemical Engineering at Tufts University. Dick and Margie fell deeply in love, and when Dick graduated from Tufts and took a job at Kodak in Rochester New York, he asked Margie to be his bride. Dick and Marge were married in Boston in October of 1950 and settled in Rochester to build their life together. Margie and Dick had 5 children over the next 10 years, Christine, John, Diane, Nancy and Tom. They made their home at 130 Oakridge Drive in Irondequoit, and were active members in St. Thomas the Apostle Parish for over 50 Years. In 1964, Margie and Dick opened their home and their hearts as guardians to 9 orphaned nieces and nephews, 3 of which Margie and Dick raised for the remainder of their childhood. Margie and Dick created a deep, loving, and resilient bond among their children, which extends to their spouses and children today. Margie carefully shaped family traditions to strengthen the family faith, create a lifetime of joyful memories, and establish the legacy of a loving clan. Margie lived her family values with great passion, and created a family legacy that will always be a powerful tribute to her as a mother and matriarch. Margie was also a dedicated volunteer leader at the American Red Cross for over 20 years. She inspired her children with her passion for volunteerism, and her volunteer legacy continues through us today. In May of 1980, Marge’s beloved husband Dick passed away unexpectedly, leaving Marge with a broken heart and a significant void in her life. Through friends, Marge met Charles Tellier, a fellow St. Thomas Parishioner and Ridgemont golfer. Marge and Chuck were married and brought their families and friends together to create a wonderful life in their retirement. They continued their passion for family life, golf, and bridge at Chapel Oaks, and Highland Beach Florida. Marge and Chuck’s rich community of friends included many special friendships that spanned over 60 years. Marge and Chuck were devoted to their 14 grandchildren, 7 from the Dormail Family (Chris and Paul Corriveau’s children Erin with husband Wade and Tristan, John’s son Richard Dormail, Diane and Bill’s children Shelly and Katie Wood, and Nancy and Steve’s children Stephen with wife DJ and Thomas Reyda), and 7 from the Tellier family (Lisa, Thad, and Adam Tellier, Tom and Chris Williams, and Tom and Chalres Eckiert). Marge drew great joy from her 9 great grand children, as they showered her with loving hugs and art. The Dormail family is known for their epic family events, including the celebration of Margie’s life last Thanksgiving when the family came together to celebrate Thanksgiving, St. Patrick’s Day, and Christmas all in one weekend (St. Thanksmas). Margie marked the weekend with the mounting of her leaf on the St. Ann’s Tree of Life, surrounded by her children and extended family. Margie’s generosity to her community, children, grand children, and great grand children brought her great peace and joy. Margie’s faith was deep and she thought of her passing as a peaceful journey to be with the Lord and her loved ones that had gone before her. Marge was deeply loved and she will live on through through the many gifts she shared as a Mother, Grandmother, and friend. No prior visitation. Friends are invited to meet the family Saturday 12:00 pm at St. Ann’s Home Chapel for her funeral mass. Interment Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
