Obituary of Geraldine P. Oftedahl

Oftedahl, Geraldine P. Irondequoit: Saturday, February 14, 2015. Daughter of Margaret Minarovics Ptacek & Henry John Ptacek; Wife of Edwin N. Oftedahl; Mother of Regina Oftedahl (Reginald) Sutfin and Christina Oftedhal (Brent) Warden; Daughter-in-law of Wanda (Helski) Oftedahl & Edwin N. Oftedahl, Sr.; Sister of John (Beth) Ptacek, Robert (Jeanne) Ptacek, William (Margaret) Ptacek, Thomas (Helen) Ptacek, Mary (Michael) Gunderson. Geraldine graduated from Mundelein College with a B.A. and majored in Speech-Language Pathology. She then achieved an M.A. degree with the same field at Northwestern University, Evanston, Ill. Following her marriage to Edwin, they moved to Rochester. Upon arrival, Geraldine worked as a Sp/L Pathologist at the Hearing and Speech Center of Rochester, Inc. Adjunt Professor at S.U.N.Y. @ Brockport, U of R and Monroe County learning Disabvilities, Inc. Her volunteer work focused on the "right to life" issue as she chaired the Rochester Area Right to Life Committee for 25 years, New York State Right to Life Committee, Inc. for 10 years and wrote newsletters for both groups over those years. Her family will receive friends Friday, March 6, 2015, 4:00 - 7:00pm at the funeral home (570 Kings Hwy South). Friends are invited to meet the family Saturday, March 7, 2015 at 11:00 AM at HOLY CROSS CHURCH (4492 Lake Ave.) for her memorial mass. Inurnment Irondequoit Cemetery.
