Demydenko, Alla Carpenter, Allyn Irondequoit: Peacefully with her son Jonathan by her side, Alla passed away after a courageous battle with cancer. Pre-deceased by her husband, Thomas Jonathan Carpenter; parents, Ludmyla & Illa Demydenko. She is survived by her loving son, Jonathan Mark Demydenko Carpenter; many dear friends, including her precious Molly. A special thank you to Jonathan's Godmother, Lana for her loving care. Alla received her Bachelor's degree from Tufts University & a Master's Degree from Harvard University, both in International Affairs. She also received a Law Degree from The George Washington University. Alla worked as an attorney on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C. for many years. She was a frequent guest in the White House. She was guest of President Gerald Ford, President Jimmy Carter & President Ronald Reagan. She was an active leader in the West Irondequoit School District, including PTA. Alla is a direct descendent of Lesya Ukrainka & also of the Drahomanov Family. She leaves behind family in Hungary, Brazil, & Ukraine. Calling Hours will be held Friday May 22nd from 4-7pm at the funeral home (570 Kings Hwy South). Panachyda 6:30pm. Friends are invited to meet the family Saturday 10:00am at St. Mary's Ukrainian Orthodox Church for her Divine Liturgy. Interment Mt. Hope Cemetery. Donations may be made to Verona St. P.O.
