Mr. Fleche was my English teacher during my Freshman year at Eastridge, 1959-1960. I was in the honors class, and we had him eighth period. He and we were at the end of our ropes of patience by that time, and I must say we acted out quite a bit. I remember the class being given the assignment of writing a paper on the subject: "He who will dance must be prepared to pay the piper." I don't remember what I wrote, but I do remember a classmate's clever interpretation. She defined each word in the sentence, citing the type of word it was, how it was used and what it meant. I was 14 at the time. Three years later, Mr. Fleche recommended me to be the editor of our yearbook. In truth, I didn't do the most work on it - other classmates did. But I checked in and appreciated everyone's efforts. I'm glad he lived a good, long life in his large and loving family. As I read the longer - and beautifully written - obituary at the Harris website, I saw many similarities in our interests. I wish we'd had the chance to connect as adults. He remains a stand-out faculty member in my memories of Eastridge, and I mourne his passing. We (the class of 1963) were lucky recipients of the fine team of teachers Dr. Odell commandeered. Those were wonderful times, and Mr. Fleche holds a great place in those memories. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you who are family and close friends. In sympathy, Joyce Strazzabosco
