Obituary of Howard Heffer
Heffer, Howard (Huck)
Irondequoit: Tuesday, February 25, 2025 at the age of 74.
Predeceased by his parents, Darwin and Betty (Donlon) Heffer and nephew Philip Goforth. Howard is survived by his wife of 27 years, Beth (Frank), son Lucas Heffer and daughter Jillian Tripple; sisters Bonnie (Gary) Birkahn and Nancy Mastrodonato; many treasured nieces, nephews, cousins and countless friends.
A life long resident of Rochester, Huck was a graduate of Edison Tech and Rochester Institute of Technology. Huck had a welding career that spanned more than 50 years, making many lifelong friends and fans along the way. Huck was an avid Chicago Bears, Philadelphia Flyers and whoever-was-playing-the-Yankees fan. He loved his Rochester Red Wings and was a season ticket holder with his wife. Huck followed the RIT hockey team and enjoyed going to an occasional game, but especially enjoyed watching his nieces' and nephews' sporting events. Huck had a great love of music and attended hundreds of concerts in his lifetime. He was a train enthusiast and was working on creating his own model train display - truly a kid at heart!
Huck loved to travel or just go for long rides to explore new places. The travel vehicles were nicknamed "the Heffer adventure bus." So many wonderful trips, adventures and experiences! Huck loved to go fishing, read (including comic books) westerns, growing his veggie garden, tinker around the house and listening to the Red Wings games on the radio when not attending the game. His very favorite thing to do was spend time with those he loved and share an occassional Genny Light. His interests were too many to list; he was curious about everything! He was an avid listener of the Coast to Coast radio show, always ready to explore the unknown and unexplained. Huck was a phenomenal cook, baker and grill master. Producing wonderful meals and what is said to be " the best banana/zucchini bread in the world!"
Above all else, Huck loved his family and friends. His cherished wife and his children were the center of his world. He had incredibly strong bonds with his siblings, nieces, nephews, in-laws and friends. He was loved so much by all. He will be missed immeasurably by all the lives he touched.
There was no one like Huck. He was an incredible care giver. He was a loving, kind, generous, considerate, loyal, selfless, hardworking, funny, good-humored, friendly man who was known for his quick wit and beaming smile - so handsome! He was the absolute best husband, father, son, brother, uncle, in-law, friend you could possibly ask for. He will be missed immensely & forever loved by all. All of us left behind will forever be grateful to have had this amazing man in our lives and for the time we had with him, it never could've been long enough.
Instead of calling hours or services, a celebration of Huck's life will be held later this spring.
