Obituary of Francis A. Delvecchio
Francis Alphonse (Red) Del Vecchio, age 81, passed away Friday morning, February 28, 2025. He was born January 27, 1944, eldest son of the late Gabe and Louise Del Vecchio.
Francis is survived by his loving wife, Connie (née Congilaro) of 60 years; and his three children, Jeannine and husband Chris Franco, Anthony and wife Renee Catucci, Frank and wife Tara McKinney. Forever cherished and remembered by his brother Gabe Del Vecchio and wife Camille, and two sisters Roseanne (Jordan), and Elaine.
His memory lives on with his seven grandchildren, Nathan Franco and wife Vanessa, Joshua Franco, Jessica Franco, Genna Del Vecchio, Marina Del Vecchio, Lia Del Vecchio, and Rylie Del Vecchio.
Francis was a graduate of Aquinas Institute where he boxed and played football. He attended St. John Fisher University before pursuing a career in the trades. He mastered the craft of carpentry which he utilized to start his own business F&C Flooring, Inc., and spent 40 years in the construction and commercial flooring business, retiring from the Pro Carpet family in his mid-sixties.
Francis was always on the go, still working out four days a week up to a month before his passing. He was a member of Ridgemont Country Club for several decades, still carrying his bag throughout the summer of 2024. He shared his passion for golf with his sons, who never passed on the chance to play a round together. In addition to golf, he was a member of the Corvette Club and a frequent buyer/seller of used Corvettes. It was always a surprise to see what may be lurking in the garage when you paid him a visit.
Francis never passed on a chance to see his children or grandchildren participate in youth sports or educational achievements. Indoors or out, he frequently braved the elements and cheered them on. Ever the competitor, Francis challenged anyone willing to participate in a wide range of ‘friendly’ games including golf, cornhole, euchre, hearts, train dominos, briscola, and bocce. There were whispers of alleged cheating against his grandchildren to win, but it could never be proven. They always thought that was just part of being their “Papa”.
Throughout his life Francis was always there to lend a hand on any construction project imaginable. Anything from a retaining wall to building an entire house was well within his scope of expertise. Whenever we needed a hand, we never hesitated to call Dad, and he dropped everything to come help us.
He will be greatly missed.
A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, April 26th at 11am at Ridgemont Country Club. Please RSVP at the link below.
