Obituary of Dorothy Rosenbauer
With great sadness, we announce the passing of Dorothy Rosenbauer, a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, who passed away peacefully on March 17, 2025, at the age of 97. Born on May 16, 1927, in Rochester, New York, Dorothy lived a life filled with grace, love, and compassion, leaving an indelible mark on all who knew her.
Dorothy was a proud Rochester native who embraced her family and community with a boundless spirit of generosity. She was united in marriage to her beloved husband, Charles Rosenbauer, for 58 years until his passing in 2004. Together, they raised two children, Anne Rosenbauer and Tom Rosenbauer, who were the center of her world and the source of her greatest joy. Anne Rosenbauer passed away in May of 2017.
A woman of an unwavering sense of humor, even to her last days, and quiet strength, Dorothy was known for her nurturing nature and unwavering commitment to her loved ones. Until she became unable to travel, her greatest joy was exploring the world, and she traveled widely, both in her camper van before her husband passed, and later in life with groups of friends. She loved poring over maps, looking for her next adventure. Later in life, unable to travel, she delighted in watching baseball games of her cherished New York Yankees.
Dorothy is survived by her son, Tom Rosenbauer, as well as two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, who were her pride and joy.
Dorothy’s legacy of love, kindness, and selflessness will continue to inspire those who were fortunate to know her. Her memory will live on in the hearts of her family and friends, and she will be deeply missed.
May she rest in peace.
