Obituary of Dana A. Leone

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved Dana Ainsworth Leone, of Pittsford, at the age of 80, on March 26, 2025, at St. Ann’s Community Care Center. A woman full of love, laughter, and warmth, she was the heart and soul of our family. In addition to her devotion to her loved ones, she held a special place in her heart for animals, and her kindness extended to all who were fortunate enough to know her.

Dana is survived by her husband of 56 years, Charles F. (Chuck) Leone; her sons Charles A. Leone (Robin) and Daniel J. Leone (Christie); grandsons Nico, Sam, and Larkin and granddaughter Anna; brother, John Prescott (Kayda); and many nieces and nephews. 

She was predeceased by her mother, Barbara Cox; father, Palmer D. Ainsworth, Esq.; sisters, Linda, Anne, Susan and sister-in-law, Sue Ann Leone Adaire.

Dana was born in Springfield, VT, on September 29th, 1944. At the age of 10, she moved with her mother and sister to Buffalo, NY. She graduated from Lafayette High School in 1962 and from Buffalo Business Institute in 1964. In 1966, Dana relocated to Rochester, NY, for a position at Mixing Equipment Company, where she worked until the birth of her sons.

During her children's early years, she embraced the role of a stay-at-home mom. However, as they grew older, Dana felt inspired to pursue a career in healthcare. She earned her nursing degree from Isabella Graham Hart School of Nursing and went on to hold various roles, including positions at the Red Cross and the Dialysis Center at Highland Hospital. Dana dedicated herself to nursing until her retirement.

Friends and family are invited to pay their respects at Paul W. Harris Funeral Home, 570 Kings Highway S, Rochester, NY 14617 on Sunday, April 13^th from 10:00 AM -12:00 PM, with a memorial service to follow at noon.
