Joan was predeceased by her loving husband of 67 years, Charles Marquardt, her son, Charles Marquardt Jr., and granddaughter, Mary Catherine Marquardt.
She is survived by: Sister, Judith Wethey, Daughter in law, Marie Marquardt, Daughter, Barbara (Mark) Lisena, Daughter, Deborah (Greg) Elliott, Son, Michael (Judith) Marquardt, and Daughter, Pamela (Edward) Knauf, Grandchildren, Christine (Mike) Henderson, Laura Cupo, Matt (Casey) Marquardt, Nicholas (Brianne) Lisena, Justin (Lindsey) Lisena, Kaitlyn Lisena, Braddon (Daniela) Elliott, Gordon (Meghan) Elliott, Mitchell Elliott, Finnegan Marquardt, Joseph Marquardt, and Lauren (Gaven) Ehrlich, Colleen (Anthony) Venette, and Erin (Benjamin) Bovenzi; as well as her 18 great-grandchildren.
A woman of deep and unwavering faith, Joan was an example of devotion, trust, and kindness to her children and grandchildren. She carried her beliefs into every aspect of life, attending daily Mass and embracing Marian devotions. Her faith provided strength and guidance to those she loved, leaving an enduring legacy of trust in God’s will.
Born and raised in Geneva, NY, Joan graduated from Geneva High School and later earned an associate degree from Vermont College in 1956. She was compassionate, nurturing, and had a heart that embraced those in need. She found joy in reading, gardening, and appreciating the beauty of nature, especially birds and the calming presence of water. Throughout her life, she lived in beautiful waterfront settings, from her beachfront home on Isle of Palms, SC, to her lake house in the Finger Lakes, where she created lasting memories with family.
Joan’s greatest passion was her family. She was a devoted wife and mother who provided love, support, and encouragement through every season of life. She was a friend to many, offering kindness and understanding to everyone who crossed her path.
Joan will be deeply missed by all who knew her, but her love and faith will continue to inspire generations to come. She is now reunited with her husband, son, and granddaughter, and we take comfort in knowing she is at peace.
A private family service to celebrate Joan’s life will be held on Saturday 24, 2025 at Cherry Ridge. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to American Cancer Society or Rochester Regional Hospice.
