Obituary of Evelyn T. Krause
Rochester, NY - Passed away suddenly and peacefully on June 17, 2025, at age 98.
Predeceased by her husband Herbert of 61 years; her sister Violet (Taylor) Luber, her sister Virginie Taylor, and granddaughter Katherine Bukys.
Survived by her children Rick (Pat), Jim (Linda), and Pam (Liudvikas) Bukys, her grandchildren J.T. (Laura), Elizabeth Bukys, and Zechariah Bukys, and her great-granddaughters Layla, Karly, and Eloise.
Evelyn grew up in Greece and was a graduate of Spencerport High School. After marriage she resided in Irondequoit, NY where she and Herb raised their children and where Herb was a member of the St. Paul Boulevard Volunteer Fire Department. After they both retired, they returned to Greece, NY, where Herb rejoined the North Greece Fire Department.
She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Evie served her community as part of both the St Paul Boulevard Fireman's Ladies Auxiliary and the North Greece Fire Department's Ladies Auxiliary. She was active in the Women's Club of Rochester, the Irondequoit Quilt Club, and the Herb Society of Rochester. Her passion for gardening and volunteering was evident in her participation to help restore the gardens at the George Eastman House to their original design in the 1980's. Even into her 90's she continued to sew stuffed bears for children in local hospitals.
Evie and Herb enjoyed traveling extensively through the United States and Canada by car, rail and traveling to Alaska by ship and Hawaii by plane. Several trips were taken to Europe as well. One highlight was to view the Passion Play held in Oberammergau, Germany every 10 years.
Her family will remember her through her gifts of the quilts she made and her love of playing games and singing carols at Christmas.
A memorial and interment for family and close friends will be held at 11AM on Sunday, July 6, 2025, at Riverside Cemetery, Chapel of Peace Mausoleum, 2650 Lake Avenue, Rochester NY 14626.
