Crispin Peters

Obituary of Crispin J. Peters

Cris died on Sunday, June 22nd and is survived by his wife, Valerie and his daughter, Kirstie as well as his son-in-law Jason, and his brothers Robert (Kay), Lynn, Dan (Sue), and Mark (Pat).  He was predeceased by his parents, Ralph and Bettina.

Cris was a Renaissance Man who loved camping and taking trips to Niagara Falls, Toronto, and Ottawa as well as Chicago.  An avid golfer, Cris also enjoyed watching many sports and especially loved the Buffalo Bills and the Yankees. He will be remembered as a chess expert and competitive player of different card games. He was certainly adept at pinball and often had an audience watching him at arcades.  Additionally, he enjoyed reading science fiction and mystery novels and watching a wide variety of films ranging from documentaries to Marvel movies.

Cris loved to listen to music and started his vinyl collection as a teenager. It would not be uncommon to hear him singing along to The Beatles, Tom Petty, Simon and Garfunkel, CSNY, Harry Chapin, Arlo Guthrie and so many more.

Cris will be celebrated for his honesty and sense of humor. He enjoyed both performing and watching improv comedy especially. A real history buff, he could remember so many details about important events and people. Even in retirement, Cris was a lifelong learner and took courses through OSHER at RIT from writing memoirs to learning about science and history, he kept his brain active until the end.
Cris will also be remembered for his progressive politics and his enduring optimism.

Last but not least, we will never forget Cris’s lifelong dedication to cats. He had a special place in his heart for every feline he came across and adopted cats that needed a good home throughout his life. We hope that he is in an afterlife filled to the brim with all his past felines who take turns sitting on his lap and snuggling for cat naps.

Donations in his memory may be made to Lollypop Farm or the Animal Service League of Rochester.
