Anne Elizabeth Burton
Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, Anne Elizabeth Burton died July 14, 2025 in Rochester General Hospital’s hospice. The daughter of Charles and Catherine Tucker, Anne was born in Irondequoit January 9, 1939. She was 86. Her parents and brother, John Charles, preceded her in death.
Anne attended Ridgewood Elementary School in Irondequoit and Ben Franklin High School in Rochester. In 1957, she married Frederick Burton (deceased) and had two sons, James Frederick and Richard John Burton. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandma, an accomplished quilter and a long-standing member of the Genesee Valley Quilt Club and the Irondequoit Quilt Guild. She made beautiful quilts for family and comfort quilts for children and people suffering from cancer and loss. Anne and Fred were active members and served as officers of The Genesee Valley Antique Car Society. She also was a member of the American Conifer Society and traveled annually to their conferences with her sister for years.
Anne is survived by her sons, daughter-in-law, Hillary Clarke; two grandchildren: Carter and Eliza Clarke Burton; sister, Katherine Tucker Freshley; two brothers-in-law, Gerald Freshley and Edward Burton (Gail), a nephew, Joshua (Michelle) Freshley; four nieces: Sarah (Chris) Ramias, Linda Pettenski, Karen Blodgett, Patti Priz; two great nephews: Evan and Sean Freshley; a great-niece, Sarah Nicole Moore; and many cousins who primary live in England, Scotland and New York State.
A private service will be held. In lieu of flowers, the family asks you consider making a donation in her honor to a charity of your choice.
