Obituary of Melville W. Miller

Melville Miller was welcomed into heaven by His Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on August 29, 2025 at the Jewish Home in Rochester, NY where he had been residing for the past 10 months.

Mel was born on September 10,1937 to Charles and Mary Miller in Warsaw, IN where he grew up. He attended Purdue University and graduated with a degree in Mechanical Engineering.

Mel was a kind and generous man, always willing to help others with his time, talents and resources.

After retiring from a 30-year career at Kodak, he joined his wife, Audrey, in establishing an antique business, Sagamore Antiques. Over the years, he became proficient in repairing and refinishing antique furniture.

Mel had many hobbies and activities: restoring a 1924 Nash, collecting and selling antique toys, running, square dancing, traveling all over the world with Audrey and a close group of friends, vacationing at 4th Lake in the Adirondacks, serving in the nursery at church and in many other areas, leading a small group at his church, and above all else, visiting his two children and 5 grandsons. He was affectionately referred to as "Grampy" and was much beloved.

Mel is preceded in death by Audrey, his wife of 64 years, and his parents Charles and Mary Miller.

Mel is survived by his daughter Cindy (Dan) Werthman; son Ron (Sue) Miller; grandsons Evan (Hannah) Werthman; Alec (Tori) Werthman; Grant Werthman; Jack (Chelsea) Miller, Joe Miller; great-grandchildren Nolan Werthman, Callum Werthman, and Dahlia Werthman; sister Pat (Stan) Lutes; sister-in-law Joan (Tom) Manos, brothers-in-law Kenny Steinmetz and Joe Lightkep and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held on October 10th at 11:00 AM at Northridge Church in Irondequoit.
