I stayed 3 hours past my shift once and we talked the entire time. You shared stories of when you were a single mom and you heard mine. You made me feel so seen and understood and you were very encouraging to keep going. You told me my kids will always love me the most because I had guilt for always working. I needed that talk that night more than you know. Rest in peace Ms Doreen. ❤️

Doreen was one of my favorite coworkers, and over the years quickly became one of my favorite people. She had a heart of gold and set the standard of how to be a good person. I feel privileged to have been able to learn from her.

Doreen, I spent such a short time with you. Studying for NCLEX, lunch dates and camp. Cocktails here and there. Your spirit and kindness have always resonated with me. Running into you years after we finished nursing school, I regret that we did not share more than brief moments of catching up. You will always be someone I admire.

I had the pleasure of working alongside Doreen at Highland Hospital on West 4. She was such a light on our floor. Every day she came in smiling and greeting us all so happily. It was always a good shift when she was there. We will miss her hugs and the silliness that kept us laughing through the night. It won’t be the same without her. Please know how loved she was in the short time we had with her on W4. We will carry her memory with us always.

This is not my loss to hold… but like the countless lives she touched, I feel it deep within my heart to say something about her for loved ones to reflect on deerly.
I met her at the start of my nursing journey, she precepted me at Unity 2018ish during the excel internship program. So I was with her for minimum 20 hours a week, for many weeks.
I learned a lot about nursing from her, but that’s a given.
What I also learned was how passionate she was about her family, especially her sons and pets, exploring the world, laughing at small glimmer, and the ability to have all that coexist into an exceptional nurse… she was one of the first people I’ve been blessed in my life that showed me what it means to live a life worth living. She taught me about balance, and kindness, and believed in me like I never thought was possible in a “perfect stranger.” Although the world is a little darker with her gone, it became infinitely brighter with her existence and every person she touched.

I had the honor of meeting Doreen on West 4 back in 2023-2024 and would report off to Doreen for the night shift. We bonded over being older RNs and boy moms. Doreen loved her sons so very much and provided exceptional pt care......she knew the art of bedside nursing that has been lost with some of the younger generation. My heart sank when I heard of Doreen's passing this week. Rest in Peace Doreen in the Splendors of Heaven with our Savior Jesus. You were such a Blessing to the nursing profession.....well done good and Faithful Servent.

In Loving Memory of Doreen
My heart is truly broken as I try to put into words what Doreen meant to me. She was one of the sweetest souls I have ever known someone who never said no, never hesitated to help and always made time for anyone who needed her. When I was new on the floor, she had endless patience with me. She guided me, supported me, and made those long overnight shifts feel lighter just by being her warm, genuine self. I loved working nights with her talking about our families, our dreams, and laughing about her latest YouTube makeup murder mystery videos. She adored her sons with everything in her, and she loved her dogs like they were her babies. Her heart was full, and she shared that love with everyone around her. I started as a traveler at Highland Hospital, and somehow, I talked Doreen into coming with me and I will forever be grateful that our paths crossed the way they did. She touched so many people, more than she ever realized. Her kindness, her humor, her loyalty, and her beautiful spirit will stay with all of us who were blessed enough to know her. Doreen, I love you. You will be missed more than words can ever say. May you rest in peace, and may your memory continue to shine through all the lives you’ve touched.

My condolences to all of her family. Doreen was my preceptor at Unity when I started as a new grad nurse. I regarded her as a mentor to me and my nursing career as it has set forward. After I left unity I frequently ran into her at Highland. We would talk about our family and life in general. She was the kindest, most caring, and loving human being. Anytime you arrived to a shift and saw Doreen you knew it would not be a bad shift. You will be forever missed, but your nursing spirit will live in those you have taught. I thank you for teaching me everything you did and I hope now you may rest in peace.

I met Doreen at Highland, we were both floated to West 5. She was so easy to talk to and we helped each other that night with any patient care that needed more than one person. She talked about her son's, and I talked about my family. She made the shift so much easier. It can be hard to find people that are so kind ,open, and willing to help. I just said hi to her a few weeks ago on the way in. I am so sad to hear of her passing. Sending love and prayers to her family.

I have so many happy memories of cheering together with Doreen and sharing confidences. Loved visiting Mascot Drive - always thought of it as a mansion, and spending time with her mom and siblings. Feel fortunate that we stayed connected through Olympia reunions and Facebook chats. Doreen was a special and caring person. I am sad about her passing but glad to have her as a friend. My sincere condolences to her family. ❤️

Hey Doreen,
I am so deeply sorry that the world has lost someone as truly special as you. You were always such a bright light, bubbly, warm, and genuinely a pleasure to be around every time you came in.
I’ll always remember our Charge Report conversations. Sometimes we’d end up laughing so much (You had the best laugh) it took us longer to get through the report. Other times we’d have deep, honest talks where we both shared personal things and even cried together. Those moments meant more than you know.
One of the last conversations we had was about how people like us walk around with smiles, and how sometimes others forget that we feel things too , we just carry it differently. Your passing reminded me of that so strongly. From your presence alone, no one would ever know the weight you might have been holding. You were always so kind, gentle, and full of light.
You spoke about your sons often, and it was clear how much you loved them. My heart goes out to them , they lost a beautiful mother. I know you’re in heaven, and knowing you, you definitely got a first class ticket straight there.
Thank you for your kindness, your laughter, and your light. I’m blessed to have crossed paths with you.
Until we meet again. ❤️

Dear DiSabato Family
I was deeply saddened to hear of Doreen’s passing.
Although many years have gone by, I have never forgotten the time we shared when we were both so young, inspired, and driven by the art we loved. She was a gifted dancer with a rare spirit, a perfectionist in an imperfect world, and she touched my life in ways that have stayed with me ever since.
I know she brought that same passion, grace, and light to all who knew her. Her loss is profound, and she will surely be missed by many.
Please accept my heartfelt condolences. My thoughts are with your family during this difficult time, and I pray you find comfort in the beautiful memories she leaves behind.
With sympathy and respect,
Vincent Lyn

I am still in disbelief that our beautiful Doreen is not here with us. She was an incredible human being with a heart so big,an amazing laugh and great sense of humor. There are so many things to miss about Doreen, to many to mention. Of course wishing for more time, one more conversation, one more hug, and now, unfortunately that can't happen. Myself and Mike Campanelli were literally talking about Doreen the day before she passed away. And I said to Mike, its been a little while, I am going to message her. I should have messaged her right then, but I didn't, and I will forever regret it. To know Doreen is to love Doreen. She didn't have a mean bone in her body and always super upbeat and a kind spirit. Doreen had a beautiful personality and was a gorgeous lady inside and out. Her boys were her world . She was THE best mom to both of her sons and made sure they, along with the rest of her family and friends were always safe, happy and healthy. Unfortunately because of that, she always put herself second. Everyone saw how much she worked and pushed herself. Not many people knew how much she truly had going on because she never showed it. Doreen was one of a kind. No one can ever duplicate the immense human being she was,and the love she brought to everyone around her. The world lost a beautiful soul, and we all lost our friend, sister, aunt, cousin, nurse, instructor,mom...she was EVERYTHING to so many. Finally rest easy my friend. Your legacy will live on through all of us. You will continue to watch over us as an angel in heaven like you did when you were here with us on earth. Until we meet again. Shelly Bruni
