John was a kind, gentle, generous, faithful man with a wonderful sense of humor that persisted despite his later health challenges.
John was an electrical engineer at Eastman Kodak for 25 yrs, working on defense satellites. After retiring in 1989, he worked at Harris Communications and taught engineering at Genessee Community College. He was active in Boy Scouts, serving as a leader and backpacking with his sons. He enjoyed cheering on his children and grandchildren in their many sports and activities – hockey, baseball, swimming, volleyball, dance, musical theater to name a few.

The family spent many summer weekends around a campfire with the Road Runners. He was a passionate cook and loved to putter in the kitchen, though was not that great at cleaning up. His sauce and meatballs are legendary. He enjoyed all kinds of dance and began tap lessons at age 14. He practiced and performed for nearly 40 years with the Oasis tappers. He was privileged to be able to perform at recitals with five of his six granddaughters. He and Josie loved ballroom, round, and square dancing and made many lasting friendships among the groups they belonged to. He had a hidden talent for cake decorating. Other hobbies included woodworking, puzzles, and Suduko. He was a skilled handyman and generously shared his time and talents.
John leaves a legacy of kindness and his gentle spirit will be deeply missed.
