Obituary of Dolores P. Hockwater

Irondequoit - Dolores Hockwater passed away on November 19, 2025 in Rochester, NY, at the age of 96.  Born on July 12, 1929, in Buffalo, NY, to Karl and Pauline Forster.  Dolores married Edward Hockwater after he returned from the service.  They had two sons, Edward and Gary.  

Dolores worked in the insurance industry after graduating from high school and then again later in life.  In the interim, she was a mother and housewife. As time progressed, Dolores went back to work in the insurance industry, first for the Foster Agency and later the Clarence Ryckman agency.  She retired in 1994 to care for Edward when he was diagnosed with cancer.  Edward died in October 1994.  To fill her time, Dolores volunteered at Rochester General Hospital, working at the information desk.  She volunteered for 25 years.  

Dolores had a deep love for gardening, working in the yard, and soaking up the sun.  She is survived by her sons, Edward (daughter-in-law Sharon) and Gary (son-in-law Scott Sims), two Granddaughters Shannon (Bret Hein), and Kristin (Justin Reis), four great-grandchildren, Ryan, Sophia, Sienna and Hunter.  She leaves behind several nieces and nephews.  She is predeceased by her parents Karl and Pauline Forster, beloved husband Edward, brother Charlie and great granddaughter Kendall Rose.
