Obituary of Andy Martinez-Ramos

Our beloved Andy was born in Rochester, New York on May 14, 1989, at Strong Memorial Hospital. He is the loving son of Milagros Ramos and Gerardo Martinez. Andy is survived by his siblings: Jerry Martinez (Christine), Xiomara Thompson (Duriel), Jeremy Martinez (Vanessa), Carlos Martinez (Tatiana), Maria Mahoney (Xavier) and Sabrina Martinez. He was the most loved uncle by his 16 nieces and nephews, paternal grandparents-Terencio & Melin Martinez and by all his aunts, uncles, cousins and many extended family members living near and far. Pre-deceased by his maternal grandparents, Rafael & Maria Milagros Ramos.

Andy also had some very special guardian angels that cared for him for 18 years and also became his family. A special thank you to the marvelous team of private duty nurses that through rain, shine, and personal hardship they showed up and provided Andy with nurturing care and love: Dorothy, Natasha, Kim, Darren, Ardatha, Mauricia, Shuntay, Dawn, Dee, Heavenly, Sabrina, Tiffany, Tracy, Tyra, Vanessa, Wendy, Meredith, Thureiser, Tasha, Shalon, Kanisha, Jojo, Regina, Wendy C., Carrie, Linda, Carla and Tamala. This team of nurses were the stronghold in keeping Andy safe and making sure that all his needs were met with his care.

Andy was a proud member of the ROTC of Edison Tech H.S., and he attended his last year at Charlotte H.S.

Andy had a radiant and contagious smile anytime you would visit or speak to him. He faced many health challenges at a young age with a diagnosis of Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy and an unlucky accident that left him bed bound. Despite those challenges Andy was a warrior. He was most loved by all that had the opportunity to interact with him and share the love that Andy radiated. Andy had a special group of friends who throughout the years stayed in contact: Jensen Caraballo (RIP), Cequan Floyd and Lucas Muniz.

Some of Andy’s favorites things that he enjoyed a lot were:
Music: Hip Hop
Color: White
Sports: Nascar Racing (Dale Earnhardt years)
Movies: Fridays, Rush Hour & Fast and Furious (all of them)
Comedian: Katt Williams
Saying: What Up!
Nicknames: Gordo, Andy Panda, Panda Bear, Hon, My Andy, etc

We are thankful for the excellent care Andy received over the years by URMC Strong Memorial Hospital Muscular Dystrophy Clinic, Intensive care Unit and the Critical Care doctors and nurses that always made sure that Andy’s needs were met throughout his lifetime.

Andy this is not a goodbye, only till we see you later . . .Love your family
