Obituary of Henry E. "Hank" Mattice, Jr.

Henry E. “Hank” Mattice Jr., of Irondequoit, NY passed away on January 19th, 2026. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, educator, and patriot whose life was defined by service, curiosity, and generosity of spirit.

He is survived by his loving wife, Sharon S. Mattice (Suydam); his sons, Brooks Mattice and his wife Jennie (Folk), and Justin Mattice and his wife Jody (Galvan); his cherished grandchildren, Reagan, Walker, Kenighan, Brance, and Galvan; and his sister, Elizabeth.

Hank was preceded in death by his parents, Henry E. Mattice Sr. and Francis Mattice (Ashmore).

Hank was a proud graduate of Purdue University, earning a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering in 1966. He went on to serve his country honorably as a Captain in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Following his military service, he continued his education at Indiana University, where he earned his MBA.

His professional career spanned more than four decades in corporate finance at Eastman Kodak, Johnson & Johnson, and Getinge. While his corporate accomplishments were significant, Hank’s true passion was education. For 45 years, he served as an adjunct professor at Rochester Institute of Technology, where he taught Statistics in the MBA program, leaving a lasting impact on generations of students who benefited from his commitment to learning and his love of math.

Outside of work and teaching, Hank found great joy in the outdoors. He was an avid hunter and angler, pursuits that reflected his appreciation for nature and the quiet moments it provided. Hank and his boys enjoyed many fishing and hunting adventures around New York and Canada, creating memories that will be treasured for generations.

Hank will be remembered for his intellect, integrity, dedication to family, and lifelong love of teaching. His legacy lives on through his family, his former students, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Calling hours and Memorial Service will be held at Paul W Harris Funeral Home at 570 Kings Hwy, Rochester NY 14617 on Monday, January 26th at 4pm and 5pm respectively. A celebration and toast in Hank’s honor will follow immediately at Titus Tavern, 690 Titus Ave, Rochester, NY 14617.
