Obituary of Carol Calamia

Carol Calamia, beloved sister, aunt, friend, and dedicated professional, passed away on January 31, 2026. She fought her illness with courage, determination, and dignity.

Carol is survived by her siblings Kenneth (Linda), James (Judy), Mary, and Christopher (Lynda). She is also lovingly remembered by her nieces and nephews Lindsay, Matthew, Laura, Nolan, Kristina, and Richie. Carol is also survived by her beloved cat, Oliver, who was a constant source of comfort and companionship.

Carol devoted more than three decades of her professional life to Nixon Peabody, where she was known for her dedication, intelligence, and strong work ethic. More recently, she found great joy in her work at General Code, a position that brought her renewed purpose and genuine happiness. She spoke often of how much she loved the work, the people, and the sense of belonging she felt there. The hope of returning to General Code was a powerful motivator and fueled her fierce determination to survive.

A lifelong volunteer, Carol gave generously of her time and talents. She served as a Girl Scout troop leader and Big Sister, was a member of her local CERT team, and contributed much of her time and efforts to the ACE Neighborhood Association. Gifted with exceptional writing skills, Carol used her voice to successfully advocate for improvements that made her neighborhood a safer place to live—leaving a lasting impact on her community.

Carol's family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Highland Hospital and the Jewish Home; for their exceptional care, compassion and kindness provided. Their professionalism, patience and genuine concern made an immeasurable difference.

Carol will be remembered for her kindness, her sharp mind and wit, her commitment to service, and the quiet but powerful ways she made the world around her better. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
