Obituary of Eugene T. Young

Eugene Thomas Giovanazzi Young, April 12, 1931, Chicago, Illinois. Passed February 2, 2026.  Gene (aka Geno) predeceased by loving wife, Anne (Antoinette Petrus); parents, Anthony and Theresa Giovanazzi; brothers, Richard, Anthony, Theodore (Ted). He will be missed by son, Mark, daughter, Lisa (Douglas) Bahr; grandson Christian J. Grasso; second wife, Ping Young; brother, James; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews; loving friends and relatives.

Gene served a voluntary enlistment of 4 years in the United States Air Force during the Korean War 1950-1954.

He was a graduate of Rochester Institute of Technology, class of 1964 and awarded a bachelor degree from the college of business and was initiated into Eta Mu Pi. He loved to laugh and enjoyed people from all walks of life. After retirement from the Faudler Company, he spent 10 years full-time as a volunteer teacher’s aide at Colebrook Elementary school in the West Irondequoit school district, where he made many friends, both young and old. He loved music, reading and gardening. He was a charter member of the National World War II Memorial, lifetime member of Disabled American Veterans, lifetime member of Sampson Air Force Base Veterans Association, American Legion and honorary lifetime member of the National Teacher’s Association.

Services are to be held privately. Donations may be made to Golisano Children’s Hospital, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Shriners, Irondequoit Community Cupboard, Open Door Mission, USO, and Boys Town were recipients of his time and/or donations. He now leaves us to be with his angel, Antoinette. God rest his soul.
