I have so many memories of Sheila over the years, but one that ALWAYS stays with me is one time when Bob and Sheila (along with Mary Ellen) invited me out to dinner. It wasn't with my family, or part of a dance or Girl Scout thing... we just went out to dinner, just me and them. It seems like "no big deal", but it was one of the first times as a young adult that i was treated as an individual. Someone wanted to spend time with ME. There was no task, no reason, just companionship. I remember it was at a restaurant that is no longer there on Hudson Avenue. I don't remember specifically what we ate (Italian), or what was said. I just remember sitting around the table with Sheila, Bob, and Mary Ellen telling stories, laughing, and just enjoying our time together. Sheila was warm, filled with laughter, and kindness. She taught me that struggle, loss, pain, and grief were all things we needed to learn to carry, but that those things did not define us. We are human and still needed to LIVE and enjoy the life we have been given. I am so grateful that I had the opportunity to know your family! Thank you Shelia for your guidance and your friendship!

What a joy it was to know Sheila! She was full of light and love and fun! We will always be grateful for the yummy treats she made for us at the holidays…and for her beautiful daughter, Mary Ellen, who shares her joyful and creative spirit. Sending love from Peter, Kristin, Margot and Bea ❤️
