Obituary of Carol L. Vesa

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Carol L. Vesa (Lunger). Born in 1941, Carol left us on the 29th of January, 2026, in Rochester, NY, leaving a void that can never be filled. With Carol's departure, we remember a life lived with immense cheerfulness and a constant pursuit for travel.

Carol was predeceased by her first husband, Vytautas Vesa, and her parents, Gwendolyn Boekhout and Gerald Lunger.  She is survived by her sons, Michael Vesa (Rolene) and Brent Vesa (Tess). Carol is also survived by her granddaughter, Stephanie Vesa, grandson, Derek Vesa, and great-grandchildren, Dylan and Raige.

Carol also is survived by her stepchildren Sandy Gomke (Rand), Jeanette Metzger (Robert), Mary Walters, Connie Dorosky (Chris) and Oscar Herrera (Estella), with many grand and great grandchildren.

Carol had a palate for gourmet goods, an evening Manhattan and sharing olives with Katie, her beloved cat.  Her love of history prompted her to travel all over the world but most notably with her travel companion, Marge, to cruise, explore the western US and England.  Her other accomplishments include her master’s degree in English, her love of animals including a goat, Charlie, her Shih Tzu and raising prize canaries.

Carol's Graveside Service will be held Saturday, May 2, 2026, 10:00 AM at Furnaceville Cemetery. Following the interment, family and friends may call from 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM at Paul W. Harris Funeral Home (570 Kings Hwy S.). In lieu of flowers, we encourage you to honor Carol’s legacy of love for animals by giving to Lollypop Farm.
