Obituary of James F. Burton

James Burton, a career architect and lifelong resident of Rochester, New York died on February 17, 2026, at the age of 65. 

He is predeceased by his parents, Fred and Anne Burton. Jim is survived by his brother, Richard Burton (Hillary Clarke); his niece, Eliza Clarke Burton; his nephew, Carter Clarke Burton; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and dear friends who will miss him deeply.  

Jim was born in Irondequoit on January 3, 1961 to Fred and Anne Burton (deceased).  He attended Eastridge HS, graduated from the SUNY Delhi in 1981 and Florida International University in 1983 with a BS degree in Architecture.  Jim worked as an architect professional for MA Architect in Rochester, NY.

Jim was a devoted son, brother, and uncle. He enjoyed target shooting, motorcycle riding, and all things Sci-Fi, and was a gifted nature photographer whose works were displayed at local galleries.
