Obituary of William B. Mendick
William B. “Bill” Mendick
Rochester – On March 27, 2026 at age 95. Bill was predeceased by his wife, Margaret Frank Mendick; sister, Cashmere; brothers, Theodore, Joseph and John. Bill is survived by his sons, Michael (Diane) and Bill (Patti); grandchildren, Matthew (Claire), Kristen, Danny (Brittany) and Nicole; great-grandchildren, Nora and Andrew; loving companion, Maureen McCoy; many nieces, nephews and dear friends.
From humble beginnings as a butcher on Joseph Avenue to an entrepreneur, builder and real estate investor. Bill never passed on a great “deal”. Bill was bigger than life and could always be seen with his signature cigar. Bill loved golfing with his buddies at Midvale and Locust Hill Country Clubs. He could not resist a game of poker, black jack or gin rummy. Fortunately for Bill he was a very good gambler.
He was passionate and fiercely loyal to his family and friends. He believed in giving back and supporting his community. For more than 75 years Bill held season tickets with the Rochester Red Wings, making him the longest active holder in team's history.
Bill was passionate about philanthropy and was very generous to the Al Sigl Community of Agencies and Rochester Regional Health to name a few. It was at Rochester General Hospital that Bill spent the last few days of his life.
We will always be grateful to the administration and staff at RGH and all of the caregivers that were around him 24/7 in his final days and years. We want to give a special thanks to Tricia Fantauzzo and all the special caregivers who gave Bill so much comfort and love in the last couple years.
Bill lived a very full life over his 95 years. He will be deeply missed by family and friends.
