Obituary of Trudie B. Brown
Trudie Brown (Gertrude Fuchs Woods)
December 14, 1930 – March 31, 2026
Trudie Brown, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, educator, and community volunteer, passed away on March 31, 2026, at the age of 95.
She was born on December 14, 1930, to Karl and Bertha Fuchs. She was predeceased by her infant son, John J. Woods III. Trudie is survived by her loving husband, Robert J. Brown; her children Greg (Lizann), Doug (Mary), and Lori Woods‑Luther (John); seven grandchildren; and two great‑grandchildren.
Trudie is also survived by her bonus stepfamily, Chris (Kelley) Brown, Kathy (Michael) Masino, Laurie (Bobby) Hladik, Joe (Nikki) Brown; 10 step grandchildren.
A distinguished scholar, Trudie graduated from Wells College, where she was elected to Phi Beta Kappa, and later earned a master’s degree in Education from Nazareth College. She dedicated 20 years to teaching in the Greece Central School District, where she was respected for her professionalism, commitment, and care for her students.
Trudie was deeply engaged in service to her community. She contributed many years to Scouting as a Den Mother, Girl Scout leader, and Den Leader Coach in the Otetiana Council. She served as a docent at the Rochester Museum and Science Center and was an active member of the Women’s Council at both the Rochester Museum and Science Center and the Memorial Art Gallery. In addition, she volunteered her time and compassion at the Ronald McDonald House.
Beyond her professional and volunteer work, Trudie enjoyed a wide range of interests, including traveling, gardening, reading, drawing, and knitting. She treasured her winters in Cape Coral, Florida, and found great joy in the companionship of her pets.
Trudie will be remembered for her intelligence, grace, dedication to service, and the steady warmth she brought to her family and community.
Mass at Our Lady of Lourdes, 150 Varinna Drive, Rochester, NY 14618 on Monday, April 13, 2026, at 12:30 pm. Family will receive friends & guests in the vestibule of the church from 11:45am-12:30pm.
Burial will be scheduled at a later date.
