Gerard Edward “Gerry” Muhl
Rochester – Passed away on April 6, 2026, at the age of 81.

Gerry was predeceased by his parents, John and Anna Muhl. He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Jeanne; his daughters, Margo (Roger) Brooks of Cumberland, Rhode Island, and Jennifer Muhl (Lynn Smith); his cherished grandson, Simon Smith; and his brother, John R. Muhl of Gastonia, North Carolina.

Gerry dedicated much of his life to education and community. He served as a history teacher for 30 years, inspiring generations of students with his passion for the past. He also contributed significantly to the cultural life of Rochester as the original Educational Coordinator of the Strasenburgh Planetarium. A dedicated scholar, Gerry researched and wrote extensively about local history, with articles published in both local history and numismatic journals. He was a past president of the Rochester Numismatic Association, reflecting his deep interest in coins and history.

Outside of his professional and academic pursuits, Gerry was an avid fan of the Rochester Red Wings and took great joy in following his hometown team.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, April 18th at 10:00 a.m. at Blessed Sacrament Church, 534 Oxford Street, Rochester, NY. Interment will be private. There will be no prior calling hours.
