Obituary of Robert W. Hammond, Sr.

Robert (Bob) Hammond, Sr.

Bob was born in Batavia in 1946 to Wallace and Edith Hammond and was raised in the Pavilion area. He passed away on April 11, 2026. In 1997, he retired from Eastman Kodak, where he served as Department Head of Enlarging in the Kodak Processing Lab and later in Kodak’s Business Imaging Systems as Manager of Indirect Sales in the Midwest. After Kodak, Bob worked for Wolf SMG. In 2006, he retired from Getinge USA, where he served as Director of Consumable Products.

Bob spent his final years in Connecticut with his son, Robert, and daughter-in-law, Christine. He looked forward to his daily phone calls with his daughter, Michelle, and his best friend, Peter Fraser. Bob was a loyal Buffalo Bills fan from the team’s early years and had hoped to live to see them win the Super Bowl.

He is survived by his daughter, Michelle Mirrione (George), and his son, Robert Jr. (Christine); stepchildren, Melanie Toy (Gene) and Marguerite Zorn; grandchildren, Zachary (Samantha), Caitlin, Megan, and Kristi; and step-grandchildren, Lindsey, Patrick, Matt, and Stephanie. His great-grandchildren include Keegan, Aubree, and Colt.  He is also survived by his former wife and the mother of his children, Patricia Sinclair, née Doty.

He was predeceased by his second wife, Patricia Hammond, née Stelmack, whom he missed greatly, and by his brother, Donald.

Close friends included Pete and Connie Fraser, Larry Burton, Marc Carney, and Chris Babcock.

Services will be conducted on Saturday, April 18, at 10:00 AM by Bob’s son, Pastor Robert Hammond, Jr., at the Harris Funeral Home, 570 Kings Highway South, Irondequoit, NY. Interment will follow immediately at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. There will be no calling hours.
