Obituary of Roslyn Germano
“Music is the language of the spirit. It opens the secret of life bringing peace, abolishing strife." (Kahlil Gibran)
Roslyn “Rockin Roz” Germano passed away peacefully on March15th, 2026 at the age of ninety-four. She left behind many who loved her, marveled at her spirit, and were amazed at her talent.
Roslyn is survived by her loving children Richard Germano, Jeannette Germano, and Albert (Lesa) Germano. Her loving grandchildren, Lisa Germano, Justin (Logan) Germano, Grace (Sean) O’ Grady, Sophia Germano and Francesca Germano. Her loving great grandchildren, Luke Germano, Taran Germano and Kindolyn Germano. Her loving sisters, Marie Carr, and Gayla (Bill) Clark, as well as many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and fans of her talent.
Roslyn was a trail blazer, living an exciting and rewarding life. She leaves behind a legacy built on faith, the joy of music, and a heart that loved her family without limit. She began playing piano at the age of five and would go on to have an extraordinarily long and successful musical career. A career that did not stop when she lost her sight. A career that lasted until the age of ninety-four. Though tiny in stature, her spirit was mighty, always prevailing through life’s hardships with a cheerful outlook, a smile, and a song.
Roslyn’s philosophy of life is best captured in the sayings she loved to repeat. “Life is only time enough for a joke” (Hermann Hesse). To her, this meant that although life was very precious, taking it too seriously was a mistake and that we should all appreciate the ironic, chaotic, and playful moments that life offers. “Expect nothing and life will be velvet” (Lisa Gardner). She believed that abandoning expectations erased the possibility of disappointment, allowing life to be experienced with greater joy. Finally, there was her own mantra: “You gotta make some noise” (Roslyn Germano), a belief that standing up for yourself sometimes meant being unapologetically loud, which she was known to do from time to time. May we all carry her wisdom and love in our hearts, forever grateful for the guiding words she shared with us. She now rests peacefully, reunited with loved ones who went before her.
The funeral mass will be held at 10:30 am on Thursday, July 30th at Holy Cross Church. 4492 Lake Avenue. Rochester, NY 14612.
