Obituary of Julian "Bud" Webb
Julian (Bud) Webb passed away on Thursday, April 16 at the age of 83.
Bud was born on September 9, 1942 in Smyrna, New York to Julian Webb and Evelyn Mercer.
He attended the State University at Delhi earning an AAS degree, where he met his lifelong partner, Linda. The couple married and moved to Rochester, where Bud continued his education at RIT and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering. He later became a Professional Engineer.
Bud spent many years at Eastman Kodak Co where he was manager in the Facilities Department and was instrumental in the construction of Kodak's Elmgrove Plant. Upon retirement he worked for Diamond Packaging and then became Commissioner of Public Works in the Town of Irondequoit.
In retirement, he remained active on the water where he taught adult sailing and captaining numerous Erie Canal cruises aboard the Sam Patch, Mary Jemison and Colonial Belle.
An avid outdoorsman, Bud enjoyed many years hunting, fishing, skiing and sailing. He was a long standing member of Rochester Brooks Gun Club and the Rochester Yacht Club where he raced and cruised his boat, Deja vu, on Lake Ontario.
Bud is survived by his wife of 63 years, Linda Webb; son, Christopher Webb (Anita); daughter, Karin Goodfellow; grandsons, Tyler and Dylan Webb and Maclean and Delaney Goodfellow; and siblings, James Webb (Liz), Judith Webb (Mandy) and Janet (Glenn) Guistwite. The family extends special thanks to caregiver, Kim Lilly, for her compassionate care.
A private service will be held at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. Friends are invited to a Celebration of Life to be held on Saturday, June 6, 2026 from 3:00-6:00 pm at the Rochester Yacht Club. In lieu of flowers, kindly consider donations to Rochester Community Boating in Bud's memory.
