Obituary of Robert Laboy

Robert "Bob" Laboy
Passed away on April 24th, 2026 at the age of 67.
He is predeceased by his parents, Luis and Rita Laboy; brother, Louis Laboy.
He is survived by his siblings, Norma L. Bushorr, Happy Laboy, Elsi (Raymond) Jablonski, John (Victoria) Laboy, Rose (Jim) Dever, Lilly Villone; nieces and nephews, Jeffrey, Christopher (Shannon) Bushorr, Jennifer Laboy, Andre (Marisa Falco) Valiquette, Anjanie Valiquette,  John Jablonski, Bryan (Nicole) and Brendon (Diana) Dever, Paul Villone; great-niece, Haven Bushorr; great-nephews, Dalton Tasseff and Adriano Valiquette; great-nephew, Max Dever and great-niece, Lydia Rose Dever.

Bob was the youngest of eight siblings. He was born, raised and educated in the City of Rochester, ultimately graduating from Edison Tech. He was employed by the Rochester City School District Facilities Department and was part of custodial staff, for many years. Originally, he was assigned to School #17 where he worked his way up to Assistant Custodian and had that job until his passing.

During his time there, he became an integral part of the school family. Just as he was loyal to his own family, he was also loyal to the school and its staff. In return, he was well-liked and became a respected and trusted colleague. A strong work ethic and a desire to give his best to the job were the hallmarks of his work. He had high expectations for himself and that guided his expectations for those he supervised. When serious health issues necessitated his prolonged absence, his goal was to return to the job he loved.

Bob loved his family, core and extended, and never missed an opportunity to participate in gatherings for reunions, holidays or other special occasions. He loved music, good food, dancing and telling jokes. With his jovial personality he was able to easily connect with people. Unbeknownst to some of us, a few years back we found out that he had a really good singing voice! A few of us were at Titus Tavern where his nephew Jeff tends bar and there was Bob singing Karaoke! This unassuming man never let on that he could sing! It was a wonderful surprise.

Bob was quite a character who will be dearly missed by his family, colleagues and many friends. May our little brother rest in peace!

Family will receive friends on Monday, May 18th 4pm-7pm at Paul W. Harris Funeral Home, 570 Kings Highway South Irondequoit NY, 14617.
Bob's Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, May 19th at 10am at St. Marianne Cope Roman Catholic Parish at Guardian Angels Church, 2061 E. Henrietta Rd, Rochester, NY 14623.
