Obituary of Carol E. Smith

Carol Elizabeth Smith, 87, passed away peacefully in the morning of May 29, 2026. A Celebration of Life will be at held at Paul W. Harris Funeral Home at 3 p.m. on Thursday, June 4th, 2026. The funeral home is located at 570 Kings Hwy S., Rochester, NY 14617.  

Born in Rochester on July 29th, Carol graduated from Our Lady of Mercy High School, and moved to southern California for many happy years, relocating to Penfield with her family in 1978, where she became an active member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Parish for many years. Carol was an avid golfer, a devoted volunteer for the Generation Two (G2) program, a eucharistic minister and wedding coordinator, and an enthusiastic employee of the Pulsafeeder Corporation until her retirement. In later years, she also volunteered at the Perinton Community Center. 

She is survived by her daughter: Tanya Smith (Lulu), sisters Elaine Burke (Pat) and Martha Delehant, brothers, William Rife and Donald Rife Jr. (Jill), nieces and nephews Kelly, Matthew, Melissa, Sarah, Amy, James, Elizabeth, Pat Jr, Mike, Theresa, Cece, Monica, Julie, Marcy, and Tom, and several grand nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her brother James Rife, sister-in-law, Anne Rife, brother-in-law Thomas Delehant, and her daughter’s father Matthew Smith.
