I met Dr. Hanna after my husbands heart attack. My husband is also Polish and I loved how stubborn she could be to push him to get the care he needed. She saved his life the day she sent him for an angiogram as they said one spot was so blocked he may not have made it past the weekend. I was then blessed to have her as my provider after my stay in ICU. She treated both of us with such warmth, love and compassion. I was saddened to learn she was on leave but kept her in my thoughts and prayers just hoping she was alright as I know she did for so many of her patients. To hear of her passing has broken my heart as the world lost a true earth angel. The world can certainly use more people like her, not less.
My deepest condolences go out to all that knew her but especially her family. Please find comfort in knowing that she touched so many lives and left a lasting impression on all that knew her. I know in my heart she is now your heavenly angel watching over all of you. If she has any say, I know she will be sending you signs. Anytime you get that little nudge or reminder of her my a sight, smell or sound know that is her communicating. May God be with you all during your time of grief.

I met Ania when in I was interviewing her in 2002 for cardiology faculty positions at URMC.
During our conversation she demonstrated extraordinary knowledge of medicine and cardiology. She at the same time showed immediate eagerness to teach students, residents, and fellows. Over the years, Ania has gained recognition as the most devoted thorough cardiologist with in-born talent for teaching. All trainees loved her demanding style of teaching combined with interpersonal interactions.
In addition, Ania was very involved with medical students' exchange, first with Poland, and next with Peru, the exchange which made a major impact on lives of so many students and trainees.
Ania was a spiritus movens of every get-together or party mobilizing people to play and to enjoy life. She was the pillar of Polish community and good friend with many of us. She will be missed by all of us.

Dr Hanna was amazing! She followed my cardiac care vigilantly! She was not afraid to advocate and prioritized my health. She didn’t ignore signs and listened with every concern. When I ultimately had my SCAD heart attack, I was sad to know she had gone on leave. The care I got from other doctors pales to the care and dedication I got from Dr Hanna. She was truly a one in a million. Wishing her friends, family and past patients peace and care at this time. Our community feels this loss greatly.

To our Ania
I remember when Ania first joined our Polish-American family. She was a lovely, beautiful, sweet blonde—with joyful, mischievous spark in her eyes, a unending smile on her face, and, most importantly, with her heart held right in her hands for us.
Rychard’s parents, Sofia and Joseph, were absolutely overjoyed that their future daughter-in-law is Polish.
In conversation, Ania told me that she wanted to become a cardiologist because she had lost her beloved grandfather to heart problems. She wanted to honor his memory by serving others and saving lives.
I grew to love Ania very quickly, and I cherished her for her outlook on life. Her devotion, kindness, and unwavering determination were an inspiration to me.
I have never met anyone who bore their illness with such courage, hope, and dignity. Ania never complained—though she had moments of weakness, which, given her nature, quickly faded away. Conversations and meetings with people, she so deeply wished to have close to her, set the rhythm of her life. Even when she was ill, she continued to think of others. From her hospital bed, her concern flowed out toward her family, friends, and patients. Caring for others was the driving force of her life.
Ania was a remarkable person who lit up our lives with her presence and positive outlook. Her determination, passion, and unwavering faith in God and the good inspired not only me but also countless people she had the pleasure of meeting along her path. Her ability to overcome obstacles was extraordinary and will remain a source of motivation for me.
Today we are filled with sadness, yet at the same time, we feel immense gratitude for all the moments we were able to share with Ania. Her life was an inspiration to us all—to cherish the little things and to love without bounds.
We will always remember you, Ania, with love and gratitude.
You were one of the few people of whom it can truly be said that you will be deeply missed.
I also wish to express my admiration for the family: Ryszard, Michal and Julia, they always stood by Ania. Especially Ryszard—he saw in Ania not only a beloved wife, but also as person being a physician who gave of herself to others in need. Ania’s fruitful life is, in large part, a credit to you as well, Ryszard.
Ania left us—and this world—far too soon; yet, in God’s eyes, it was the perfect time for her to meet Him. I believe that Ania, from the other side of life, will continue to support this world with even greater energy.
Thank you, Ania, for all the moments we shared together. Your legacy will live on in my and my family’s hearts forever. As you depart, we bid you farewell with sadness, yet also with the hope that your suffering has come to an end.
We find solace in the thought that we will meet again one day, and that you will welcome us with a smile and a sparkle of loving joy in your eyes.
Yous cousin (“sister” as you used to call me sometimes)

A few days ago I said one of the most difficult goodbyes of my life. My dearest friend of 25 years passed away after a brave battle with cancer.
Ania was full of love for God, family, friends, her patients and anyone in need.
She lived her life to the fullest, fast, busy, never wasting a minute, as if she knew that time was both precious and limited. We always joked that Ania was in three places at once. She would accept two same day invitations and somehow always managed to make it work. When invited, she rarely came alone, bringing a group of medical students from Poland or Peru with her. She wanted her friends to feel like theirs and an extension of their family while they were far from home. Once they moved on, she stayed in touch, remembered details about their lives, and visited whenever she could.
She would often skip her lunch at work so she could see more patients. She never rushed, she listened, and she cared.
She was an example to all working mothers, proving that you could have a fulfilling career and raise great children at the same time.
She was an exemplary daughter, always thinking and caring for her mom.
Ania and Richie had a wonderful, loving marriage and supported each other in good times and in difficult ones.
Ania was always there for her friends. Whenever I had a health issue, she would call and check on me at different times of day and night and offer advice.
She could always make me laugh telling funny stories.
Her impromptu parties will be missed. Her house was always open to all.
A few weeks ago, we tried to remember the exact moment when we met, to no avail. I think it's because it feels like Ania was always a part of my life, even before I met her.
I'll miss you so much my friend.

I am one of the many many patients of Dr “Hanna”. She also entered my life after an unexpected heart attack about 17 years ago. Having her as my cardiologist was indeed a “GIFT” for me. She immediately set me at ease, talked to me as a PERSON and cared for me like no other. I looked forward to my appointments with her. Through the years she made many recommendations that enhanced my heart health. I am devastated that her “little surgery” turned out to end her life. I am devastated that I will no longer have those appointments with her. And tremendously saddened that her family has lost this precious jewel.

There are some people who come into your life at exactly the time you need them most, and Dr. Hanna Mieszczanska was one of those people for our family.
After my mother's heart attack, she was not only an incredible doctor but also a source of comfort, strength, and hope. She always made us feel heard, cared for, and reassured during a frightening and uncertain time. Her compassion went far beyond medicine—she genuinely cared about her patients as people.
Over the years, she became much more than my mother's doctor. She became a dear friend. Her kindness, warmth, and generosity of spirit left a lasting impact on our family, and we will forever be grateful for the care and friendship she gave so freely.
It is difficult to put into words how much she meant to us. We feel truly blessed to have known her and heartbroken at her passing. Her memory will live on in the countless lives she touched with her healing hands and caring heart.
Our deepest condolences to her family and loved ones. She will be missed more than words can express.
Kochamy Cię, Haniu, i zawsze będziemy o Tobie pamiętać. ❤️ - Renata y Malgosia

I was fortunate to be a colleague, friend and patient of Dr. Hanna. She provided outstanding care for me at a difficult time with compassion and care. We worked together on research projects, and she was always inquisitive, probing and energetic. What a doctor! This woman was all business when it came to the heart. She cared and shared and made me feel at ease, yet fully aware of the trials ahead. Not many can claim such insight and understanding. She took time and when needed went the extra mile for me and I'm sure others. Damn fine person and one of a kind doctor. Dr. H, I miss you.
