Obituary of Jeanne Sawycky

Jeanne was born in France and settled in Rochester in 1957. She attended music conservatory in France and was an accomplished opera singer and a self-employed French textile weaver. She enjoyed cooking, music, flowers, travel and most of all, time with her family and friends.

Passed away on June 16, 2026 at the age of 99.

Jeanne is predeceased by her husband, Mykola and son in-law, John Schmidt.

She is survived by her children, Veronica Schmidt and Peter Sawycky; grandchildren, Nicholas (Alana) Schmidt, Katrina (Steve) Prystaj; great-granddaughters, Evelyn and Orelia. 

Family and friends may call at Paul W. Harris Funeral Home, 570 Kings Hwy So., Friday, June 19, 2026 from 4:00 – 7:00 PM, where a Panachyda Service will be held at 6:30 PM. Her Funeral Mass will be held Saturday, June 20, 10:30 AM at St. Josaphat’s Ukrainian Catholic Church, 940 Ridge Rd, Rochester, NY 14621. Interment to follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
