Irondequoit - On June 25, 2026 at age 83 surrounded by his loving family. He is predeceased by his parents, Alfred and Ida (Nasello) Morland; mother-in-law, Carolyn Defranco Howe Scott; father-in-law, Vernon Howe; step-father-in-law, Marvin Scott; and sister-in-law, Dawn W. Howe. David is survived by his loving bride of 62 years, Carolee; children, Steven Morland, Kari (Rob) Steinmetz, Traci Leigh (Scott) Marcella; grandchildren, Tasha (Gary) Setzenfand, Jesse David Morland, David (Monica) Treu, Tristen (Kayliana Lamore) Steinmetz, Keira Leigh Steinmetz, Zachary Montalto, Juliana Marcella and Justin Marcella; brothers-in-law, Duane (Mary) Howe and Dale (Jeannette) Howe; several nieces, nephews and close cousins; life-long friends, Bob and Rose Malone; Heaven-sent caregiver, Sharlene Forbes; and beloved dog, Charlie.

Dave was a proud member of the first graduating class of Eastridge High School in 1961, but it was there that he found something far more meaningful than a diploma; he met the love of his life, Carolee. Their love story began in those hallways and blossomed into a lifelong partnership. On August 10, 1963, they exchanged vows and began a beautiful journey together in Irondequoit, where they built a life filled with love, laughter, and family. Their love was the kind that novels are written about: steadfast, enduring, and deeply inspiring. For 65 incredible years, Dave adored Carolee, always calling her his “bride,” a testament to the unwavering affection he held for her.

Their family's story began in 1965 with the birth of their son, Steven, followed by Kari in 1968 and Traci in 1971. Dave was the heart of their family, a devoted father who poured his soul into raising his children and later doting on his eight grandchildren. To them, he wasn’t just a father or a grandfather; he was their rock, their guide, and their greatest cheerleader. They often said he was the best father and Papa anyone could ever hope for.

Dave’s professional journey began in 1966 at Eastman Kodak, where he worked while attending night classes and earning his degree at RIT. He spent 25 years at Kodak as a systems analyst before joining IBM in 1991 as an International Accounts Executive. This role opened the door to a world of adventure for Dave and Carolee, taking them to places they had only dreamed of, including cherished trips to England and France. After retiring from IBM in 2006, Dave embraced life to the fullest, traveling with Carolee and their dear friends, Bob and Rose Malone, creating memories that would last a lifetime.

In retirement, Dave found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He spent countless hours on the golf course, a sport he loved deeply, and cherished every moment with his family and friends. He remained close to his high school friends, affectionately known as the “A, E, I, O, and U’s,” who were a constant source of support and laughter, especially during his six-month illness.

Dave was a man of many passions. He was an avid outdoorsman who found peace and purpose in nature. He and his son Steve shared countless hunting trips, and he spent many weekends fishing on Lake Ontario and the Finger Lakes. He cherished taking his grandchildren fishing, creating memories with them that will be treasured for a lifetime. Seneca Lake held a special place in his heart, not only for its beauty but for the countless moments of joy it brought. It was there that he and Carolee, along with their lifelong friends Sam and Nikki Cino, purchased a summer home. That home became a haven of laughter, storytelling, and precious time together, filled with unforgettable moments shared among family and friends. His love for the outdoors was matched only by his love for his home. He took immense pride in caring for his lawn; his family often joked that they wouldn’t be surprised to find him meticulously trimming it with scissors. Caring for his yard was a labor of love that reflected his attention to detail and his deep connection to the place he called home. In his later years, he discovered a talent for woodworking, crafting beautiful heirlooms for his grandchildren that will be loved for generations.

Dave’s warmth, humor, and unwavering love left an indelible mark on the lives of everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. He will be deeply missed but forever remembered in the hearts of those who shared in his journey. We find comfort in imagining him free from suffering, enjoying a martini alongside his sister-in-law, Dawn Howe, and reuniting with his loyal companion of 16 years, his beloved dog, Charlie.

Family and friends may call at Paul W. Harris Funeral Home, 570 Kings Hwy South, Friday, July 17, 2026 from 4:00 PM – 8:00 PM. His Funeral Mass will be held Saturday, July 18, 11:00 AM at St. Kateri at Christ the King Church, 445 Kings Hwy South. Interment to follow at Irondequoit Cemetery. A gathering to celebrate Dave’s life will be held at the Pt. Pleasant Fireman’s Hall, 55 Ewer Avenue, Rochester, NY 14622, following the services.
