Richard Thomas Girard

Irondequoit – On June 30, 2026  at age 76. He is predeceased by his parents, William and Mary Girard. Richard is survived by his son, Rick (Christina) Girard; grandchildren, Maresa and Isis Girard; life companion of 34 years, Carol J. Cottone; siblings, Dan Girard, Gail Blakely and William (Kim) Girard; Carol’s children, Andrea T. (Jerry) Hurteau, Jamie T. (Jeff) Martin and Paul (Tu) Tremiti, Carol’s grandchildren, Jake and Josh Hurteau, Kyle (Ellie) Martin and Spencer (Ilysia) Martin, Arianna and Carissa Tremiti; many nieces and nephews.

He was a man known for his strength, skill, dedication, and love for his family. A master electrician by trade, Richard took great pride in his work and was respected for his knowledge, craftsmanship, and commitment to doing things the right way. He also proudly served in the Army Reserves, carrying with him the values of discipline, service, and loyalty throughout his life.

Above all, Richard cherished the people he loved. He was a devoted father, a proud grandfather, a loving life partner, and a dear brother. His family was one of his greatest joys, and the memories shared with him will be treasured always.

Richard had a lifelong love of fishing and found peace near the water. Whether casting a line, sharing stories, or simply enjoying the quiet of the outdoors, fishing brought him happiness and became a special part of who he was.

He will be remembered for his hardworking spirit, his love of family, his sense of humor, and the many ways he touched the lives of those around him.

Family and friends may call at Paul W. Harris Funeral Home, 570 Kings Hwy South, Thursday, July 9, 2026 from 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM where his Funeral Service will be held Friday at 10:00 AM. Interment Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to American Cancer Society or loved ones are encouraged to honor his memory by spending time with family, enjoying the outdoors, or casting a line in his honor.
