Alice G. Campbell

Greece, formerly of Irondequoit, on July 8, 2026 at age 91. She is predeceased by her parents, William and Jane Glendinning; former spouse, Stacy Campbell. Alice is survived by her children, Clint (Peggy) Campbell, Glen (Debbie) Campbell and Jane (Bill) Barnes; grandchildren, Clint (Shannon) Campbell, Colleen (David) DeRaddo, Erin Campbell, Michael (Michaela) Campbell, Peter (Colette) Campbell, Bridget Campbell, Matt (Claire) Barnes, Kevin (Amanda) Barnes and Christopher (Mallory) Barnes; and 11 great-grandchildren. 

A beloved daughter, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, friend, neighbor, and coworker, she left behind a lifetime of love, laughter, music, and cherished memories. Alice was the kind of person who lit up a room the moment she walked in.  With her mischievous twinkle in her eye, her ever present smile, and her full love of life, she had a way of making everyone feel like they were exactly where they belonged. She had a remarkable gift for making friends wherever she went and made everyone feel welcome. She was known for her cheerful sayings, exclaiming “fine and dandy like sugar candy” and “supercalifragilisticexpialidocious” any chance she got, which perfectly reflected her optimistic outlook on life.

A proud first-generation Scottish American, she embraced her heritage throughout her life. Her passion for dance began at an early age, and she proudly performed as a Scottish dancer at the Highland Games.  She later shared that love by teaching tap dance and ballet to countless children, inspiring generations with patience, enthusiasm, and joyful spirit.

Her love of the arts extended far beyond dance. She was an avid supporter of local theater, volunteering her time at Geva and the Auditorium Theatre and delighting in musicals of every kind. It wasn’t unusual to hear her suddenly burst into a favorite show tune with a smile and passion that was impossible not to return.  Beautiful inside and out, you could always count on her to turn on the theatrical flair at any given moment.

Long before women’s athletics were commonplace, she broke barriers as one of the first female hockey goalies in her hometown. Her love of sport continued off the ice as she became part of the original staff when Lakeshore Rink first opened, serving as the office manager and helping joyfully build a place that became a gathering spot for the community.

Alice continued to find great joy in serving her community and had a long career with the West Irondequoit School District. She loved staying active, spending time exercising at the YMCA, and treasured the friendships she made as a member of the Red Hat Society. 

Some of her happiest memories were made at Cape Cod. As a child, she vacationed there with her parents, creating traditions she would later continue with her own children and with dear friends the LeSchander’s, Cooper’s and Reid’s. Cape Cod always held a special place in her heart, representing family, friendship, and the simple joy of being together.

In her final years, Alice was known as the “Mayor”, “Matriarch”, and “official greeter” at Fleming Point in Rochester where she welcomed everyone from her chair in the lobby with a giant smile on her face.   Special thanks to Pat and her helpers, and all staff at Fleming Point for their love and care for our spunky Alice.  

Though she will be deeply missed, her family finds comfort in knowing that her music, laughter, and joyful spirit will forever echo in their hearts. They will remember her every time they hear her favorite show tune, watch a Highland dancer, get a scoop or two from Abbott’s, or take a stroll on a Cape Cod beach.

Alice leaves behind a family who adored her, friends who were blessed by her kindness, and a community made brighter simply because she was part of it. Her life was one of grace, generosity, joy, and love; a life beautifully lived. Her kindness, generosity, humor, and love for others left a legacy that will live on in all she encountered.
