Obituary of Susan Elizabeth MacAdam

Susan Elizabeth MacAdam passed away peacefully surrounded by loving family (including Minnie Mouse) at the age of 62 on Monday, Aug. 3, 2026.
A 1982 graduate of Irondequoit High School and Bryant & Stratton College, Sue was predeceased by her father Peter Ranald MacAdam. She is survived by her mother, Margaret Mary “Peggy” MacAdam, siblings Kevin, Michael, Maureen (and fiance Tim Finnegan), John (Tricia MacAdam) and Mary Jo Hardy.
She was utterly devoted to her nephews and nieces, Ian MacAdam, Aaron Hardy, Shane Hardy and Colleen and Molly MacAdam.
Ian remembers sleepovers at Sue’s at Christmas time, and then they would go Christmas shopping. Also, of course, watching Notre Dame games with her at Shamrock Jack’s.
Aaron liked making Sue laugh. And he was good at it.
Shane loved talking about music with Sue. (Purple Rain probably came up at some point)
Sue’s family is so grateful for the support from her many friends, some of whom she even “really liked,” especially Doris, Kathy, Karen and Cora, as well as Riley (Zach Goolsby, and Weston!) and TJ Finnegan.
Through a series of jobs in the healthcare business at places of employment such as St. Ann’s Home, Rochester General Hospital and Rochester Regional Health, Sue was dedicated to making sure clients and patients were treated fairly.
In light of her own medical challenges, she consistently maintained a positive attitude that was contagious and brought some measure of peace of mind to her family and friends. She was amazing in that regard.
By default (because Peter was her father), Sue was a lifelong Notre Dame football fan who had a blue-and-gold “Play Like a Champion Today” sign in her room at RGH. After a trip to Ireland with siblings in 2005, she returned to Ireland for a Notre Dame game against Navy in 2012. (Final score 50-10, Fighting Irish)
An avid reader with an inquisitive mind, Sue also loved all things Disney (especially Minnie), and worked at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida for several years before moving back to her hometown Rochester. Sue loved Key West.
Somehow, she was a Miami Dolphins fan in Buffalo Bills country, and also made at least one trip to Boston because, “How ’bout them Bruins?”
But mostly it was Notre Dame football, which Sue loved to watch at Shamrock Jack’s in Irondequoit surrounded by like-minded Fighting Irish nuts.
Her family and friends are eternally grateful to the palliative and hospice teams at Rochester General Hospital for their care, understanding and empathy. Donations in Sue’s memory can be made to Metavivor.
