Obituary of Francis A. Hurley

Francis A. Hurley, age 96, passed away at his home in Rochester, surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, February 11, 2016. He was born in Kingston, Ontario, to the late Jeremiah and Jennie Hurley and was the second of four siblings. He is predeceased by his brother, Joseph (Marguerite) Hurley; sisters, Mary Bowers and Jean (Clarence) Fink; and granddaughter, Stacey McBride. He was a World War II veteran and Purple Heart recipient who served in the U.S. Army from 1941 - 1945. On October 16, 1948, he married Dorothy Thompson, who survives him. He was employed by Eastman Kodak Company as a chemist for 35 years, retiring in 1983. He lived 96 years filled with adventures, jokes, science experiments, archeology and fun. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Daniel McBride; son, Patrick Hurley; daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Dr. Christopher Zona; daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Allen Forbes; and daughter and son-in-law, Deborah and Charles Turrisi; and daughter and son-in-law, Kathleen and Mark Robinson; and grandchildren, Jeremy (Kerry) McBride; Cindy (Joseph) Burke; Patrick Hurley; Melissa Hurley; Michael Hurley; Megan Hurley; Lindsey Hurley; Nathan Zona; Victoria (Matthew) Peternel; Luke Zona; Rochelle Turrisi; Nicole Turrisi; Katie Turrisi; Chip Turrisi; Bridget Turrisi; Kasey (Patrick) Tuoti; Shaun Robinson; great grandchildren, Molly McBride; Reed McBride; Haley Burke; Aiden Acosta; Catalina Acosta; Sophia Peternel; Haven Tuoti. His family will receive friends Sunday 1:00 - 4:00pm at the funeral home (570 Kings Hwy South). Friends are invited to meet the family Monday 9:30 am at Holy Cross Church for his funeral mass.
