Obituary of Douglas J. Lansing

Lansing, Douglas J Irondequoit: Thursday, July 14, 2016 at age 62. Predeceased by his parents Bernard and Lena Lansing. Doug is survived by his loving wife of 15 years, Michele Barnard, sister, Sharon Lansing, brother, Bernard(Patricia)Lansing, nephews, Burt(Cindy)Stimson and Eric(Julie)Lansing, niece, Janet(Scot)Heister, 2 great nephews and 5 great nieces, his 2 faithful companions, Rose and Liz. Doug is a graduate of Edison Technical High School. He worked for his uncle for 30 years as a German sausage maker at Zimmerman's Market. When the store closed in the late nineties, he decided to pursue a career path inspired by his long-standing fascination with computer technology and programming. He obtained his associate degree in computer science from Bryant and Stratton College and shortly thereafter began his long career as a human resources information systems administrator at what is now Rochester Regional Health. Doug was a devoted husband to Michele (Barnard) and daddy to his little K-9 units Murf, Rose and Liz. He is remembered by family and friends as a gentle giant who everyone loved for his kind, generous and selfless heart. He was an avid golfer prior to the onset of health problems, and spent many happy hours barbecuing on his Big Green Egg to the benefit of family members and his many friends. He was an avid Buffalo Sabres fan who never let any blizzard interfere with his trips to Buffalo games. Doug also had a special love for photography that he had hoped to pursue ardently in retirement. His family will receive friends Sunday 1:00 - 4:00pm at the funeral home (570 Kings Hwy South), where his funeral service will be held Monday 10:30 am. Interment will be held in private.
