Obituary of Donna J Garfield

Garfield, Donna Jean (Brookshaw) Irondequoit: Beloved mother, passed on to eternal rest on July 19, 2016. A daughter of Archie and Hazel Brookshaw, she was born on March 8, 1930 in Ellsworth, Wisconsin. Predeceased by her husband of 55 years, George and sister Beverly Meltzer. Donna is survived by her nine children: Jodene (John) Hughes, Pauline Farsace, Bruce Garfield, Patricia Denny, Mary Salathiel, and Eileen Horak of Rochester, Teresa (Dan) Mee of Camp Hill PA, Kathryn (Joe) Ferraro of Saugerties NY, and George Garfield Jr. of Ft. Myers, FL,; Grandchildren: Justin & Christopher Hughes, Nicholas & Kara Farsace, James Ferraro, Jenna, Jeffrey, & Jason Garfield, Erica Garfield, Lauren Deisenroth, Meghan & Emily Denny, and Dyllyn & Ian Salathiel. She is also survived by her sister Marvel Olson and brother Kenneth Brookshaw of Wisconsin and many nieces and nephews. She moved to the Rochester area in 1960 where she spent countless hours raising her growing family and supporting her husband in his career. She was employed by Schantz Homes, Inc. and later became a realtor for Dallas Healy Realty Co. She spent her life devoted to caring for and supporting her nine children and their families. Donna and her husband were active members of the Rochester Yacht Club and enjoyed sailing & cruising Lake Ontario. The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Crest Manor Living Center for their compassionate care for Donna over many years. Her family will receive friends MONDAY 4:00 - 7:00pm at the funeral home (570 Kings Hwy South). Friends are invited to meet the family TUESDAY 10:00 AM at ST.
