Chiaverini, Josephine A. "Josie" Sodus: Thursday, October 6, 2016 at the age of 57. Predeceased by her father, Carmine. She is survived by her mother, Jeanette McConnell; siblings, Stephanie (John) Hudson, Jeanne (James) Pinkard, John (Michele) Chiaverini, Joseph Chiaverini, Melanie (Ben) Secor, Stacey Alsheimer; aunt, Rosa Serra; uncle, Michael Chiaverini; step children & grandchildren; several nieces, nephews & cousins; beloved dogs, Champ, Halla & Nikki. Josie began her career in 1975 at the Finger Lakes Occupational Center where she took Cosmetology. She graduated from Penn Yan Academy in 1977 and went on to the Continental School of Beauty. She has been a hairdresser for 40 years and was part owner of the Avenue Salon in Pittsford. She dedicated her life to hard work and taking excellent care of her customers, who were like family to her. Family, her dogs, traveling to Italy, where she hoped to retire one day, antiquing & gardening were hobbies she enjoyed. Her family will receive friends Thursday 5:00 - 8:00pm at the funeral home (570 Kings Hwy S.) Friends are invited to meet the family Friday 11:00am at St. Kateri at Christ the King Church for her funeral mass. Interment St. Michaels Cemetery, Penn Yan, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Willow Domestic Violence Center, P.O. Box 39601, Rochester, NY 14604-9601, or for her beloved dog Champ at BrightStar German Shepherd Rescue, Inc., 815 Robertson Rd., Churchville, NY 14428.
