Murphy, William A. Oxford, NY: At the age of 89, formerly of Rochester, Bill joined his wife and son in heaven on March 20th. He was pre-deceased by his parents, William & Mary Murphy; wife, Helen K. Murphy; son, William J. Murphy; sister, Helen(Bob) Meyer and brother, John(Mary) Murphy. He is survived by his daughters, Mary Anne(Bill) Benedict of Binghamton, NY, Kathryn Murphy of Darien, CT, Helen Murphy (Dan Roop) of Farmington, NY; grandchildren, Paul, Colleen & Brian Benedict, Ferron Murphy; sister, Sister Marietta Murphy; brother-in-law, Dr. William Conroy; many nieces and nephews. Bill served in US Army during WWII and was a graduate of Canisius College. He worked as an accountant until May 2009. He had a strong love for his family, religion, baseball and Notre Dame sports. He was a very hard working man and loved to tell jokes. We will miss him. Thank you to the Oxford Veterans Home for their exceptional care. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Oxford Veterans Home, 4207 State Hwy 220, Oxford, NY 13830. His family will receive friends SUNDAY 1:30-4:30pm at the funeral home (570 Kings Hwy South). Friends are invited to meet the family MONDAY 10:30am at SACRED HEART CATHEDRAL (Rochester) for his funeral mass. Interment Mt. Calvary Cemetery Buffalo, NY.
