Loving husband, father, and grandfather
Felix Novosielski, 86, of Bradenton, Florida, formerly of Rochester, NY passed away on March 30, 2013.
Born June 9, 1926 in Piotrkow Trybunalski, Poland. During World War II he was a forced laborer in Germany for 4 years until he escaped in 1945 and joined the Polish Army. In 1951, after the war, Felix and his family came to the United States and settled in Rochester, NY.
He was a long time employee of Haloid/Xerox. He brought his mechanical and troubleshooting skills to the team that made the first Xerox machine.
He was a respected leader in the Polish community and actively involved with many cultural groups including the Polish Language School and the Polonia Eagle soccer club. He also co-founded the Rochester Polish Federal Credit Union, and provided assistance to many Polish immigrants in finding employment opportunities.
The love of growing roses and gardening were his passion. Many would stop to admire his handiwork. Family and friends were a very important part of his life.
Felix was pre-deceased by his first wife of 14 years, Maria (Karpinska) Novosielski
He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Collette (Burr) Novosielski.
He leaves behind his children Jerzy Novosielski of Acton, MA, Christine Novosielski of Boxford, MA, Lydia Hunsinger (Raymond) of Rochester, NY, Debra Falcinelli (Michael) of Boxford, MA, Jon Novosielski of Bradenton, FL, 5 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, and a sister, several nieces and nephews and family in Poland.
He will be greatly missed by his family, friends and all who knew him.
Visiting hours will be Friday, April 5, 2013 from 4 to 7 PM at the Paul Harris Funeral Home, 570 Kings Hwy South, Rochester, NY 14617. Funeral services will be Saturday, April 6, 2013 at 12:00 PM at St. Stanislaus Church, 1124 Hudson Ave, Rochester, NY 14621 with interment to follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in his memory to the "Felix Novosielski Memorial Fund" for Polish language, culture and education. Donations should be made to the Polish Heritage Society of Rochester, Skalny Welcome Center, St. John Fisher College, 3690 East Avenue, Rochester, NY 14618.
