Dar Michael, Kaitlyn and Nicholas,
It is with sorrow that we write to you on the passing of Andry Tabinsky - loving husband, father and grandfather.
The video is a lovely tribute to him. It seems evident that he had a long life that was filled with family by his side. And we can see that his eyes lit up when his grandchildren were by his side.
I am sure that you each made him proud to see you grow up into wonderful and caring individuals.
Our condolences to your mother, you, and your entire family. You will be in our thoughts and prayers.

As you know, my parents did the same route, through the labor camps, dodging 'repatriation', getting married, and sponsored to Rochester (by my Great Uncle). And our families became very close through the church. I see your parents standing at my baptism in an old 8mm film.
But, with little close family, I viewed your father as an uncle. When my father worked night shift, I remember your father coming by to take me and Michael to the Avenue D playground. And the zoo, for the little amusement rides. He was a wonderful man, with great insight and perspective he shared. All life shall end, and I am glad his was a long and peaceful life.

What a life he had! Thanks Olga for sharing some stories of your father. What I do know of him is what he created in his daughter, Olga. A warm, wonderful, caring friend and daughter, that by itself tells me a lot about him. My thoughts go out to the whole family in their time of loss.

A little bit about my father...
He was born in Berestechko Ukraine in 1923, surviving the terror that Stalin imposed on the Ukrainian population & culture. As a teen, he was taken by the Nazis for forced labor in their work camps in Berlin. When Berlin fell to the Russians, they took back the Ukrainian nationals to what would have been Siberia or worse. Fearing this, he escaped and worked his way back to the American controlled sector and found a life of hardship on work farms from Germany to Belgium where he worked as a coal miner. From there to Nuremberg, Germany where he met Antonie, his wife of 59 years. Wishing for a better life, they emigrated to the US in 1956 on a sponsorship offered by St Mary's Orthodox Church. Settling in Rochester, they proudly worked hard to create a new life for themselves and their children - Olga, Michael, Victor & stepdaughter, Switlana. Andry worked at Kodak for 23 years. He visited Ukraine twice. He loved his native Ukrainian music, arts, literature & especially poetry.
