Obituary of Marilyn W. Effrige

Effrige, Marilyn W. (Wolfrom, Taylor, Wiley, Ferguson) Irondequoit: Wednesday, July 17, 2013 at the age of 84. Predeceased by her parents Donald and Helen Wolfrom, Marilyn is survived by her daughter, Nancy (Keith) Wiley, son, John Effrige, grandson, Jeremy Effrige, granddaughter, Stephanie Effrige, sister, Dottie(Jim) Taylor, special nephews Ralph Genrich, Jr. and Russell (Sarah) Ferguson, special niece Judy Effrige, many other wonderful nieces and nephews, cousins, dear friends, Vicky Abbott and Ken Krygier, and her beloved cat, Riley. Marilyn was an employee of Unity/Park Ridge Hospital for 25 years as a medical secretary and Executive Secretary to the Medical Director. During this time she also served as a Notary Public for the hospital. She worked in private practice for a few years for Dr. E. Woodbury prior to employment at the hospital. In previous years, when she was a homemaker, she excelled in sales for 21 years as an Avon representative and was a realtor for a short time. Marilyn attended Miss McCarthy's Secretarial School and the University of Rochester, Irondequoit High School and Durand Eastman. During the time she was raising her family, she was very active in the East Irondequoit school district Parent's Association, and was on the Ski Patrol at Brantling and Bristol Mountains. Marilyn called herself "The Wordsmith" and was very proud of her excellent vocabulary and skills. She went out of her way to help many people, and made friends wherever she went. Her vegetable soup was legendary at Park Ridge. She will be remembered for her amazing sense of humor, wit, and feisty ways. She will be sadly missed. We thank the staff of the Fairport Baptist Home and the Atria in Penfield for her care, especially the staff that brought her ice cream and helped with Riley. Her family will receive friends Monday 2:00 - 5:00pm at the funeral home (570 Kings Hwy South), where her memorial service will follow at 5:00pm.
