Dear Plukas Family,
It is with sincerest condolences that my family here in central Florida sends this message.
Your family was always so kind and generous to my Mom and Dad and the rest of our family during our days in Rochester. You regularly opened the door to your home and warmly welcomed us and others on many occasions. Your pool with the diving board was so much fun and such a vivid memory of hot summers in the 70's and 80's. It provided an opportunity for our family to create fun memories with Dr. Plukas fondly looking on. I will always remember the goofy dives and tricks my Dad, Tom Sr, did off the board! It got everyone going, including Dr Joe, and was such an enjoyable time! As you close this amazing chapter in your families history, we are inspired by Joe's legacy of kindness, giving and caring decency to his friends and family. Like many other families, Dr. Joe was intimately involved with shepherding multiple generations of Oltorik's into this world. What an amazing thing to be a part of! He and your family were counted among the best of friends by my folks. And for good reason. Our thoughts and prayers are with you in this time of morning. I am reminded of the following from Psalms 91:1..."Those who live in the shelter of the Most High will find rest in the shadow of the Almighty..."
Blessings to you all: Tom, Regina, Thomas, James and Nathan Oltorik

To the entire Plukas family - Our dad, Bill Morris, was great friends with your dad. While we are sorry for your loss, we know that his final years have been difficult. His suffering is now over. We lost dad to Alzheimer's almost 10 years ago... And, now dad and Joe are together once again....I will always remember Joe as a man who loved his family and who enjoyed life. We have fond memories of your family visits to our cottage on Canandaigua Lake. God bless all of you as you grieve. May the memories you have bring you peace.

Georgette, Mark, Leann, Rich, Sue, Joan, Jim, and family,
I am truly sorry to hear of your recent loss of your dad. I extend my sincere sympathy to all of you and I wish you comfort at this time.
“Doc lived a rewarding life which he shared with so many of us. I will always admire his attention to detail, his incredible work ethic, and his love and caring for others.
My life has been blessed from knowing your Father, Mother, and all of you because you continue to represent the best qualities of your parents.
I know in my heart that God welcomes your Dad because he wanted to raise the competition level for others in heaven during the neighborhood or “Cloud volleyball matches and pond hockey games.
I have fondness in my heart and soul for the lessons and friendship that your Dad shared with me.
My thoughts and prayers will be with all of you. May you find comfort in the loving outpouring of sympathy and support from all of us who have been blessed by knowing your father.
The legacy he leaves is remarkable and may God bless all of you and the great memories you share of his time on earth.
In love and sympathy,
Bill & Sally Thompson

To the entire Plukas family, I wanted to send my condolences and regrets for not being able to see you this week. I know Dr. Joe and his entire family were so helpful in dealing with our loss when we were younger and I'm deeply saddened by your loss today. I'll always remember his generosity, caring demeanor and that wonderful deep voice that commanded respect. There are so many memories I cherish with all of you and I hope during your difficult time you can reflect on your own great memories too. Dr. Joe & Aunt Lynn raised an amazing set of children and I'm sure he was very proud of all of you. I miss you all and please know that my thoughts and prayers are with you. Dr. Joe will live forever in our hearts.

I worked with Dr. Plukas on Labor & Delivery at RGH for about 5 years and have to say he always had a "hello, how are,you today?" every time. When we nurses would have a break in the action on a weekend, he would sit with us and share stories about the navy and how things were done back in those days. He sure made us laugh! I appreciated every bit of advice he offered due to his expertise and his genuine love for life. They don't make them like that any more. God bless his family at this time of loss. Dr. P. will be remembered!

To the Plukas family, I would like to send my regards to all and appreciation for many fun memories with your family and father. Dr. Plukas and Lynn were gracious hosts to The Oltoriks over many years. And summers at the pool at your home in Irondequoit were very much appreciated.
Dr. Joe Plukas was gracious enough to get up in the middle of the night to go to Rochester General to deliver Ross Oltorik, when Shelley and I were in town back in 1989. Being our first he provided us with comfort in a stressful situation being out of town for a child birth.
Your father was a true gentleman and a high integrity individual and I am sure he is an inspiration to your entire family. God Bless to Joe and his family.
