I would like to write some words concerning my friend of 40+ years; Mike Mahan.
Mike was a great husband, father, and professional aviator. We often would talk on the phone daily in recent years, not as much in the last few months, but we did try. Because I live a long distance away from my original home in Rochester N.Y., I will be unable to attend the service.
Mike was so proud and happy with his Wife and family. Every time we talked, we discussed his family and the airport. Mike and I always talked about mutual pilot friends in the ROC area, flying and the local airports around Rochester.
I already miss talking with Mike. The Rochester Airport will not be quite the same for many people and aviators. I believe some people reading and hearing this may have similar feelings. Mike was a mentor, friend, QB, and professional to so many people and pilots.
While in the hospital, Mike was also reviewing and preparing to update his Certified Flight Instructor rating and aviation testing. Mike was affiliated with the American Legion Riders and Patriot Guard Riders. He worked with the FAA in Albany as a flight inspector. Mike was one amazing person and aviator.
