Irondequoit: Surrounded by his family on Sunday, February 23, 2014 at the age of 94. Beloved husband to the late Dolores Petrus. Loving father to Shari (Dave) DeClerck, Jim (Ann) Petrus and Kim (Chris) Frey. Grandfather to Julie (Patrick) Brophy, Meg (Peter Banta) DeClerck, Keith (Alexis) Petrus, Christine Petrus, Caroline, Lauren, & Katie Frey and great grandson, Carson Brophy; brother, John (Bess) Petrus; sister-in-law, Clare Petrus; many special nieces, nephews & friends.
Harold was the second of five children. He served honorably in WWII. He was known by many Rochesterians for his gracious hospitality spanning over five decades operating the Royal Scot & Merrie Scot Restaurants and Howard Johnson's at Twelve Corners. Harold was an active participant in many church related activities at Peace of Christ Parish - St. James. He also gave generously of his time volunteering for many community related activities.
His family will receive friends WEDNESDAY 4:00 - 8:00pm at the funeral home (570 Kings Hwy South). Friends are invited to meet the family THURSDAY 10:00am at Peace of Christ Parish at St. James Church for his funeral mass. Entombment Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to Peace of Christ Parish, 25 Empire Blvd., Rochester, NY 14609.
